Police search for suspect, SUV and missing man after McDonald's parking lot shooting

For unknown reasons someone opened fire, shooting a young woman in the face who was passing by according to investigators.

East Point Police are asking for help in finding a suspect, missing man and an SUV after a shooting in a restaurant parking lot.

It happened Wednesday, around 5:30 pm at the McDonald’s on the 1200 block of Virginia Avenue.

Someone opened fire for unknown reasons, shooting a young woman in the face who was passing by, according to investigators.

The woman has recovered and is at home.

Now police are looking for a man who was seen walking away from the shooting, a white SUV, and a man who hasn’t been seen again since the incident.

Police are calling the man pictured on surveillance pictures a person of interest. He is described as a black male wearing a blue and red Superman hoodie, dark pants, with red and white tennis shoes.

The SUV is described as a white 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner.

In addition, investigators say 32-year-old Jeffery Merriweather has been missing since the time of the shooting.

Police do not believe Merriweather is a suspect in the shooting.

However, the McDonald’s was the last place family or friends report seeing him.

If you have any information about any aspect of this shooting call 911 or contact East Point Police at 678-614-7049 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
