ATLANTA (WXIA) – No injuries were reported in a fire at the old Morris Brown Towers complex on the Morris Brown College campus Tuesday evening.

When firefighters got to the scene, heavy flames were spilling out of a second floor window.

According to Cortez Stafford with the Atlanta Fire Department, one person was rescued from the upper levels of the 11-to-12 story tall building. Stafford says he's not sure why the man was in the building, but says there are reports that homeless people may use it for shelter.

Firefighters will continue through the building to make sure no one else is in the building.

Investigators will continue to work to find the cause of the fire, but Stafford says major hazards like holes in the floor and empty elevator shafts will make it difficult to conduct the investigation.
