Two homes were damaged, one extensively, after a newly-built home caught fire near Smyrna elementary school.

Neighbors on Fleming street called the Smyrna Fire Department after seeing flames coming from a home around 1:20 Sunday morning.

Fire investigators arrived to the home around 1:30 to find a home fully engulfed in flames. Investigators began a defensive attack to knock down the flames.

The home suffered extensive damage due to the fire. Investigators are still checking the first floor and basement for hot spots.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The neighboring home was also damaged due to the radiant heat.

There has been no word on what started the fire. Both homes damaged were newly-constructed.
