CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- A roller coaster at the Bartow County Fair failed with children on board.

A video posted to Facebook Thursday evening shows adults holding up the leaning coaster.

Whitney Castro wrote, "If it wasn't for some quick adults, this would have ended a lot worse."

The incident happened Thursday evening around 8:00 on a roller coaster called Orient Express.

According to the State Fire Marshall's office, the ride's track collapsed when two children were on board. The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.

This picture shows a break in the track.

There are no reports of injuries.

For now, a spokesman for State Fire Marshal Ralph Hudgens said the ride is being "red tagged," meaning it is out of service. Other rides are being inspected and those not inspected before the fair opens will remain closed until they can be inspected.

The fair is expected to open Friday evening at 5:00 p.m.

11Alive's Ryan Kruger is on the scene and witnessed a crew working to fix the ride. It appears the track of the roller coaster was being held up with a series of wooden boards and medal posts lying on the grass.

The fair is being held at the David Turner Fair Grounds in Cartersville this week.

The company operating the fair is Carol Stream based out of Orlando, Florida, according to the Fire Marshall.

There have been a string of fair ride failures and injuries nationally.

A "mechanical failure" was blamed when three girls fell 35 to 45 feet from a ride at the Greene County Fair in Greeneville, Tenn. at the beginning of August. A 6-year-old-girl who fell suffered a traumatic brain injury, while injuries suffered by a 10-year-old and 16-year-old were not life threatening.

An 11-year-old girl's scalp was torn off when her hair became tangled in the moving parts of a carnival ride in Omaha, Nebraska in May. She was on a ride called the King’s Crown at a Cinco De Mayo festival.

A 17-year-old girl died when she was ejected from a spinning carnival ride called the Sizzler at a church's Día de los Niños carnival in El Paso, Texas. Her friends were also ejected but they were not seriously injured.
