A student at Parkview High School died on Friday during a travel team soccer practice.
Gwinnett County schools confirmed on Sunday that Michael Jones passed away from an unspecified emergency medical situation.

Administrators told 11Alive that, although school in Gwinnett does not start until Aug. 7, counselors will be at the school on Monday should any students or teachers need support.

A rep from Jones' family sent 11Alive the following statement :
The family of Micheal Jones wants to thank you for your prayers and kind words, which are very comforting during this time. Micheal was a great kid who loved soccer and life. He will be greatly missed by his teammates, the students at Parkview High School, his family and friends.
