Police: Dispute leads to fatal weave shop shooting

Police don't have much information to go on, though investigators believe there were a half dozen or more people at the salon who were either involved in or witnessed the shooting.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are looking for a person of interest after they said may have been present when a shooting broke out at a local hair salon.

According to Det. B.R. Smith with the DeKalb County Police Department, an argument broke out at Maggie's Weave Studio in the 5800 block of Memorial Drive Dec. 28. The argument escalated, leaving a man in his 20s injured by gunfire.

A few minutes later, police said that man showed up at a stranger's door in the 1200 block of West Ridge Avenue asking the homeowner fo help. Police said he died at that scene a few moments later. Police have still not released his identity.

At this point in the investigation, police said they don't have much information to go on, though investigators believe there are people who know what happened.

“There were, give or take, a half dozen people who were either immediately involved or they witnessed the incident," Smith said.

They have, however, identified a person of interest who they believed was involved in the incident to some extent. Police have identified the woman as 24-year-old Derrisha Terry. They have not said she is a suspect, and said there is noting suspicious in her background.

“She was at the hair salon. She was involved in (the fight) to some extent," Smith said.

Police have searched a number of old addresses, but haven't had any success in finding her. Investigators would like her to come forward so they can talk to her about what she may know about the incident.
