ATLANTA — Thousands flooded Midtown streets Sunday afternoon to take part in the Atlanta Pride Parade.
Despite the wet weather, parade participants and onlookers showed up for the celebration, bringing thousands to Midtown.
At the center of the parade, former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. The Democrat served as one of the grand marshals this year.
"If you believe that love is love, make some noise," she said to the crowd.
"We know that Atlanta is the home of change," she added. "That we've got some work to do in the state of Georgia."
She said the LGBT community needs to be seen in Georgia.

Abrams wasn't the only political figure there. Congressman John Lewis has been a part of the parade for years. He's a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community.
"We are one people and one family," he said. "We all live in the same house."
Several people running for office to part in the activities as well.
The parade for Sarah Wilson means equality. It was her first time attending. By her side were her mom and friends. She said she recently came out.
"Being bi-sexual is a part of who I am and to come out to the people that are closest to me and have them support me and be surrounded by the people I love supporting me was just everything to me," Wilson said.
