Man barricaded inside room at Roswell hotel taken into custody

The situation unfolded at the Ramada Inn on Mansell Road.

ROSWELL, Ga. — Police have arrested a man who barricaded himself inside a room at a Roswell hotel, triggering a SWAT standoff.

The situation unfolded at the Ramada Inn on Mansell Road.

Sgt. Brittany Rodgers of Roswell Police said management at the hotel called police around 2 p.m. complaining about a man being a nuisance. They wanted to kick him out, but he would not leave, police said.

He had locked himself inside of a room and police were trying to get him to surrender. 

Just about 5:10 p.m., officers were able to force their way inside the hotel room and tase the suspect. Officers were then able to take the man, described as a white male in his 50s, into custody. Images from 11Alive's chopper above the scene showed officers surrounding the man.

Police said EMTs are now checking the suspect, before they question him.
