Monday morning started in Atlanta with widespread reports of Verizon outages.

11Alive crews in the field and customers on social media started reporting the problems around 8:00 am.

Reports came from Alpharetta, Athens, Buford, Rome and even Hoschton, Ga.

We reached out to Verizon Wireless and a spokesperson stated:

"We are currently experiencing a service interruption for some customers in the Atlanta area. Our network engineers are working to resolve the issue quickly."

According to the spokesperson, the problem was an interruption in the 3G1X voice and data for some customers north and west of Atlanta. Verizon said engineers were able to identify and resolve the issue. Service was restored around 2 p.m.
