Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo was killed in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.


Carlos Walker, aka Shawty Lo, was born in Moultrie, Georgia on March 31, 1976. Walker is a founding member of the hip-hop group "D4L" and in 2003, founded D4L Records. He is perhaps best known for his debut single "Dey Know".

In 2008, he received a "Rookie of the Year" BET Award. Walker's most recent release, "Bowen Homes Carlos", came out in 2013.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office confirmed to 11Alive that Walker was killed in the crash.

When and where?

Walker was killed in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning around 2:30 a.m. when his 2016 Audi rolled over while on the ramp to Cascade Road coming from I-285 southbound.

What happened?

The car crashed through a highway guardrail and hit two trees. Walker was ejected from the vehicle, which then caught fire.

Who else was in the car?

Two female passengers, identified as Destini Carter and Deshondria Miller, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. How the two women knew Walker is unclear.

Where was he before the crash?

According to posts on Instagram, the rapper was at Blue Flame Lounge in Bankhead hours before the crash.

Who he leaves behind

Walker leaves behind several children. In a 2013 interview with MTV, he talked about his life with 11 children and their 10 mothers. At one point, a TV show centered around the rapper, his children and their mothers called All My Babies' Mamas was planned, but it was apparently canceled before airing, according to MTV. A pilot of the show did make its way to the internet, sparking much discussion about Walker's unusual family structure.
