GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Investigators are searching in the woods for more bones after a hunter made a shocking discovery Tuesday night.
According to Gwinnett County Police Department, a hunter called 911 after finding a skull in unincorporated Auburn, Ga.
"Officers along with the Medical Examiner confirmed that the remains were human. In close proximity, other bones were found, but many bones remain missing," Public Information Officer Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a statement.
The scene was secured and the search was called off overnight Tuesday. Wednesday morning, it resumed near Bailey Road and Union Grove Circle. Officers, along with officer recruits are assisting the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene technicians with the search.
Pihera said they do not know if the death was criminal and do not have the identity of the person.
