Small quake shakes parts of NW Georgia, SE Tennessee

A small earthquake was felt very early Sunday morning in parts of far northwest Georgia and southeast Tennessee.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake only measured at a magnitude 2.4, and was centered near Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., just south of Chattanooga.

It happened at 4:53 a.m., so while most folks were asleep, our Chattanooga sister station WRCB noted that they received calls from parts of Chattanooga and East Ridge, Tenn., from people who felt the tremor.

No damages were reported.
