Crying robber's accomplice now sought in Cobb County

Police believe he helped rob a victim who tried to help a crying woman outside the door. That woman was really part of the robbing crew.

SMYRNA, Ga. — Police are on the lookout for a man they believed helped the now-infamous "crying robber" exploit her victim.

Smyrna Police have an arrest warrant out for Ricky Grace, 25, for a robbery that took place on the 5100 block of Inwood Place in Mableton, Georgia. Grace is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

He is wanted in connection to the "crying robber" case where a woman would cry outside of a resident's door, asking for help. When a resident opened the door, the woman would then force her way in with two other accomplices and rob the home.

The crying woman, later identified as Amanda Tanks, 19, was arrested and charged with one count of invasion, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and cruelty to children.

Once police secured a warrant for Grace's arrest, the North Metro SWAT unit executed a "no knock" search warrant on his home which led to the arrest of two other people. However, Grace was not home at that time.

The other two people were taken into custody for possession of illegal narcotics and stolen firearms. Police are still searching for Grace and are asking for anyone who may have information on his whereabouts to contact Smyrna Police at 770-434-6666 or call 911. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can also call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
