Atlanta Police officer is hurt in rollover wreck early Wednesday

The officer blacked out when the cruiser rolled over.
An Atlanta police officer received minor injuries in a single car wreck in southwest Atlanta early Wednesday morning.

ATLANTA -- An Atlanta police officer is recovering after his patrol car overturned early Wednesday morning as he responded to a call in southwest Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police Lt. Marilyn Bighon, the officer was en route to assist a second officer when the wreck happened near the intersection of Metropolitan Parkway and Deckner Avenue in southwest Atlanta.

Bighon said the officer blacked out when his cruiser rolled over and he was unable to get out of his seat belt.

An Atlanta police officer received minor injuries in a single car wreck in southwest Atlanta early Wednesday morning.

Rescue crews were able to get the officer out of the police car and take him to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Bighon says the officer is going to be okay. She said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
