Suspect hospitalized with 'serious injuries' after officer-invovled shooting

What we know: 

TRION, Ga. -- Authorities are investigating after U.S. Marshals were involved in a shooting in northwest Georgia, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms.

According to the GBI, officers from both the Chattanooga and Atlanta U.S. Marshal's Office were trying to arrest 31-year-old Thomas Zane Campbell off of Halls Valley Road in Trion, Ga. Monday.

At some point during the incident, authorities shot Campbell, who was reportedly armed. Emergency officials him to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. with 'serious injuries."

The GBI is still investigating the incident, but said it appeared Campbell had recently been convicted in Catoosa County for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

No other details were available.
