ATLANTA — Police are working to trace down a gunman after a man showed up to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

According to Atlanta Police, officers responded to the 2400 block of Macon Drive in southwest Atlanta around 2:30 a.m. after getting reports of shots fired.

When officers got there, however, they didn't find anyone there who appeared to have been hurt. Shortly after, though, officers got word of an gunshot wound victim who was being treated at the Atlanta Medical Center on Cleveland Avenue.

An initial investigation appears to show that the victim had been in a verbal argument at the home in the same block. At some point, police said the argument escalated and one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times.

Police said the suspect ran off, and someone else took the victim to the hospital for treatment. The victim was later transferred to AMC’s main campus in stable condition.

Meanwhile, police are still searching for the suspected gunman, and the investigation continues.
