A 17-year-old is being charged as an adult after police say they uncovered his plot to have two people killed.

Morgan Miles Morris of Jasper was arrested Wednesday, August 16 at his home after police say they found evidence of a murder for hire plot.

Pickens Sheriff's Office charged him with felony criminal solicitation to commit murder and although Morris is 17, he will be tried as an adult.

According to investigators, a school resource deputy was given a tip about the plot. "Following up on the tip, the Pickens Sheriff’s Office arranged for undercover law enforcement officers to meet with Morris. Morris offered to pay an undercover officer to kill two different individuals. During the meeting with the undercover officer, Morris provided the officer with information on how to carry out the murder," a press release read.

After a search of his home, deputies arrested him without incident.

Authorities said Morris does not appear to be a threat to other people.
