A Texas fugitive is captured by officers in metro Atlanta.

Brookhaven Police arrested 36-year-old Walter Cobb on Wednesday.

He was wanted for at least two bank robberies in Denton, Texas. The crimes occurred before Christmas.

Denton Police released surveillance images and a description of the suspect to the public asking for help in locating him.

Cobb was also wanted for also driving with a suspended license, faulty brake light, and was in possession of marijuana. Police also believed Cobb was driving under the influence of alcohol.

One of Brookhaven's license plate reading devices was instrumental in alerting police that the suspect was in the area. Brookhaven Police partnered with Georgia Power in 2017 to provided LPRs throughout the city at strategic locations. The LPRs focus on offenses such as carjackings, stolen vehicles, wanted persons, and more.

"Utilizing license plate reader technology has been instrumental in both detection and deterrence of crime,” said Brookhaven Police Chief Gary Yandura. “It has also proven useful in locating dangerous fugitives who have committed serious crimes and are attempting to elude authorities.”

Cobb was arrested and transported to the DeKalb County Jail and charged with DUI, Possession of Marijuana, and other traffic-related charges.

He will also be held for Texas on their bank robberies.
