Triple shooting in South Fulton leaves two dead, one injured

A 15-year-old was shot in the face before running over to a neighbor's house for help.

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Three people were shot early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Partrena Smith with the South Fulton Police Department has confirmed that the fatal shooting happened on the 2900 block of Two Lakes Circle at 12:57 a.m.

When officers arrived they found two males shot to death and one 15-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to his face. Police originally thought the two victims, 16-year-old Grant Antonio Payton of Riverdale and 19-year-old Tyree Johnson of College Park, were adults, but later confirmed they were also teens.

Neighbors told 11Alive Payton was shot by a flying bullet that went through the home. Johnson was shot inside the car.

According to police, the 15-year-old had come running to a neighbor's home for help after he was shot. The neighbor then drove the teen to meet with an ambulance, where he was transported to the hospital.

The neighbor told 11Alive that other residents had been playing with firecrackers and fireworks in the neighborhood, so she assumed that's what the noise had been. But it turned out to be gunfire.

Right now, police are not saying much about any suspects or motives. But neighbors told 11Alive plenty about what they are calling a an epidemic of violent crime at their doorsteps.

"It's dangerous. We have to move," said Rachel Huiel.

No suspects are in custody at this time and investigations are ongoing.
