UNION CITY, Ga. — Police have identified the suspect who allegedly killed a 17-year-old in Union City Monday afternoon.

Nineteen-year-old Isaiah Christopher Turner has been booked and charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of firearm or knife during the commission of a felony, according to Union City Police.

Turner waived his first appearance on Tuesday. No bond was set and his next court appearance will be May 1, 2018.

Union City confirmed officers responded to the 5700 block of Rock Road shortly before 4 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

When officers got there, they said they found a 17-year-old, later identified as Chevelle Tramon Thompson, who had been shot multiple times. He was later pronounced dead.

The murder appeared to be connected to some sort of ongoing dispute between the two though it's unclear if other people may have played a role in the crime.

What is clear is that friends were stunned by the teen's death. Officials said they are working to gather more information on the shooting that happened in a neighborhood police described as usually quiet.

"It's unnerving," Union City Police spokesperson Jerald January said. "We're working very diligently to make this a safer neighborhood, but usually, it's a very quiet neighborhood."
