UNION CITY, Ga. — A Union City officer has been arrested and is facing multiple charges stemming from a domestic dispute.

According to Union City Police, Lt. Melvin Echols was taken into custody July 11. He's charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and cruelty to children. 

The charges stemmed from a July 5 domestic dispute, police said.

Echols has been placed on administrative leave without pay.
