Utility worker dies while working in bucket truck in Spalding County

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators say a man is dead after some sort of medical emergency while working in a bucket truck.

According to Spalding County Capt. Dwayne Jones, deputies were sent to the 2600 block of Newnan Road on Thursday in response to an emergency situation involving a utility worker. 

Jones quoted medical personnel who said the victim, a 60-year-old man, was already dead when they arrived. Members of the Spalding County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division are working at the scene, as is Coroner Sonny Foster.

Jones said that he couldn't confirm the exact cause of death, deferring to the coroner's office.

Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have also been notified due to the circumstances of the man's death.

His name hasn't been released yet as authorities work to get in contact with family members.
