Warrant: Middle school teacher threw stool at student

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A Lindley Middle School teacher was arrested for allegedly assaulting a student with a stool.

According to an arrest warrant, Maurice Simmons is charged with simple battery harm. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office said Simmons turned himself in.

The warrant says Simmons' was on hall duty the morning of Aug. 13 when a 13-year-old student placed a cold water bottle on the back of Simmons' neck.

He responded by allegedly taking the stool he was sitting on and throwing it at the student. The teen was hit in the stomach. Four teachers were interviewed about what happened.

A judge set his bond at $1,500.
