ATLANTA — A woman is in the hospital recovering from a head injury after police say she was hit by a car in far west Atlanta.
According to preliminary information from the scene, the victim walked into the roadway at Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and I-285 north around 6:30 p.m. As she got into the road she was hit by a car and the driver remained on the scene.
The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was conscious and breathing at the time, police said. No charges are expected against the driver given the circumstances of the accident.
It's still unclear why the woman was in the busy intersection.
