ATLANTA – Delta crew members got a special thank you from Rep. John Lewis.

Lewis awarded the crew members of Delta flight 513 with Congressional Certificates of Appreciation on Wednesday after they aided him on a recent flight.

On Saturday, Lewis was traveling from Detroit to Atlanta when he became ill mid-flight. The flight's crew and customers jumped into action to help. The congressman said he was grateful for the assistance he received.

“I have lived in Atlanta a long time,” Lewis said. “I always prefer to fly Delta, whenever you are flying where I need to go. You are always good to me.”

According to a Delta release, the crew was able to get appropriate medical supplies and Captain John Jones ensured medical personnel would be available when they landed.

“I want to thank the entire Delta flight team and the Delta attendants on the ground who helped me during this discomforting experience for their compassion and professionalism,” Lewis said. “You are the best airline in the business.”

The crew said Lewis was a “real trooper” and said he was making jokes once the plane landed in Atlanta.
