Man fatally shot in his garage

Detectives are working to find out why one man was shot dead in his garage.

A Lithonia man is dead after being shot in his garage at 10:45 p.m. Monday night. 

The shooting took place at 535 Stonemill Manor in Lithonia. 

Police have identified the victim as 28-year-old Christopher Barber. 

When police arrived Barber was found unresponsive and laying in the grass surrounded by family. 

The victim's mother, Amy Barnes, said she heard a gun shot and then banging on the door. Barnes said she believes her son was trying to get inside the house. Barnes told police that when she went outside to check on the banging she discovered her son laying on the ground.

According to the homes surveillance footage two suspects entered the garage. The video also shows both suspects running away from the garage and jumping into a vehicle. The victim then begin to chase behind them. 

One suspect was described as a black male with slim build, about 6 feet tall and wearing a light-colored sweatshirt and light-colored pants.

The second suspect was described as a black male with slim build, about 6 feet tall wearing a light-colored sweatshirt and jeans or dark sweatpants.

Police also discovered a silver revolver in the road and a spent shell casing inside the garage.

Barber was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

Detectives say they are working to learn the motive behind the shooting.
