ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- A body found in Pender County on Saturday has been positively identified as 3-year-old, Mariah Woods according to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
WFMY News 2 first brought you the news of the arrest of 32-year-old, Earl Kimrey early Saturday morning who’s been charged in connection with concealing the little girl’s death.
The identification comes on the same day as the visitation is being held for Mariah Woods at the Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Dozens attended a vigil for the little girl on Tuesday. Hundreds of teddy bears now sit in the community as a memorial to Mariah.
A second vigil is scheduled for Sunday night at 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dawson Cabin Road and High Hill Road.
An Amber Alert was sent out for Woods on Nov. 27. Her body was found on Dec. 2 with Kimrey also being arrested. Kimrey appeared in court Monday and his next appearance is Dec. 18.
The Onslow County District Attorney says Mariah's autopsy results are still pending and no timeline has been provided as when they'll be available.
Kimrey is charged with:
• Concealing of Death
• Obstruction of Justice,
• 2nd Degree Burglary
• Felony Larceny
• And Possession of Stolen Property
