It it's been over a month since a massive fire ripped through the famous Paris landmark, the Notre Dame Cathedral.
The blaze raged for more than 12 hours on April 15, destroying its spire and its roof, but sparing its twin medieval bell towers. There was also a frantic rescue effort to save the monument's "most precious treasures," including the relic revered as Jesus' Crown of Thorns, officials said Tuesday.
French President Emmanuel Macron set a goal of rebuilding the cathedral in just five years. Proposals to restore the iconic cathedral have already starting popping up - one group of architects who currently reside in Atlanta also have a vision.
According to their website, Reinaldo Hernandez, Jacques Levet, and Rene Salas all have a masters of architecture from the University of Notre Dame.
"Our proposal focuses on how the site surrounding Notre Dame can be used during the restoration process," the webiste reads.
The three understand that their plain could take 10 years or longer to complete, but they want to make it possible for visitors to watch the work being done.
Levet works with Historical concepts in Atlanta. He would like to see the cathedral restored as close to the original design as possible. Their plan proposes for there to be an area for public space in the front of the cathedral and a spot for visitors to engage with craftsmen working on the rebuilding efforts.
