The Atlanta Hawks' Kent Bazemore isn't just a star in the NBA.
He's also won several UNO championships, and he has the belts to prove it.
This weekend, Bazemore is hosting his own UNO competition to benefit the ARMS Foundation.
Bazemore's UNO Tournament will be held at Fernbank Museum (767 Clifton Road) at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 7.
The event is open to the public, so fans can rub shoulders with the celebrities while enjoying food, drinks and entertainment.
The UNO contest is part of Bazemore's 3rd Annual Celebrity Weekend.
The events include bowling, a golf tournament and an event at Jimmy Choo’s.
The various events are being held August 4 through 8 around Atlanta.
The ARMS Foundation is a 501c3, and its mission is to promote, motivate and inspire any young child who aspires to be part of the next generation of leaders.
“I’ve learned a lot about life through athletics and I want to provide that same opportunity to other student athletes,” said Bazemore. “Now is the time for me to leverage my platform to make a difference. Having been raised in a small town, I understand the kind of impact a single individual can make in the lives of those in a community."
Bazemore is passionate about giving back to organizations that help disadvantage youths overcome their situations with positive motivation.
One such organization is from his birth place (Bertie YMCA in North Carolina), another from his college town (1st Tee of Hampton Roads UpCenter) and a third from his current home (Bellwood Boys & Girls Club of Atlanta).
Numerous celebrities are scheduled to appear at events throughout the weekend, including Grant Hill, Paul Milsap, Dennis Schroder, Al Horford, Tyrone Hill, Charles Oakley and Brian Jordan.
The weekend events include:
• Thursday, Aug. 4 @ 6 - 8pm – Jimmy Choo Sales Event where fans can meet Bazemore and shop knowing that a percentage of all merchandise sold will benefit the ARMS Foundation. Items can be reserved at the store and / or ordered online and the Foundation will still receive the credit with the promo code: ARMS. Open to the public, the event is held at Jimmy Choo’s in the Shops at Buckhead, 3065 Peachtree Road.
• Saturday, Aug. 6 @ Noon – Bowling Tournament held at Painted Pin (737 Miami Circle). The public is invited to either bowl (RSVP required) with a celebrity or simply cheer them on while enjoying food, drinks and entertainment.
