The online auto retailer Carvana presented Vadel Gray from Dunwoody Elementary School with a 2015 Mazda 3.

"I feel great," Gray said. "It means a whole lot, a lot of prayers, a lot of struggling."

Gray's old car was a 1989 Chevy Celebrity, which provided a little comic relief in the movie “Miracles from Heaven.”

Part of the movie was filmed at the school, and producers spotted his car in the parking lot and asked if they could use it for Queen Latifah's character.

He asked, and she agreed to sign his dashboard after filming.

But the old car was totaled in a wreck a few months ago, so Gray started riding the bus to work.

"We heard about the "Miracles" connection and wanted to help with a new, reliable car," said Carvana Co-founder Ryan Keeton. "He's an amazing, generous man and a staple in this school system. He's been helping students and staff for years."

About 100 staff members, students and parents gathered in the parking lot of the Chick-fil-A at Perimeter Pointe, one of the school's Spirit Night partners.

They held up signs and cheered when the school principal, Jennifer Sanders, drove up with Gray in the passenger seat.
