GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A 38-year-old woman is dead after a serious crash near Loganville, police say.
The crash happened early Sunday morning around 7 near the intersection of Athens Highway near Rosebud Road.
According to Gwinnett County Police a car was driving west on Athens Highway and tried to make a left turn into the parking lot of a Kroger. That's when it was hit by another car traveling east.
Authorities said the impact of the crash killed the passenger, 38-year-old Rochelle Vinson, inside the car making the left turn.
The drivers of both cars were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. But police said the driver of the car making the turn - who was found to be at fault - is in critical condition.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but say they are looking into the possibility of speed and alcohol playing a role.
Eastbound lanes of Athens Highway were closed about two and a half hours during the investigation. No other information was available.
