Pepsi takeover | Coke rival pouring money into Atlanta advertising

Billboards and advertisements are bubbling up all over Coca-Cola's hometown. Here's why.

ATLANTA — Pepsi signs are popping up all over Atlanta - the home of Coca-Cola - in what at least one viewer has described as "Cola Wars 2019."

A few more billboards have already gone up since Monday.  Some read "Pepsi in Atlanta. How Refreshing" while others pointed to the big game with "Look who is in town for the Super Bowl.

Someone even spotted Pepsi hoodies in a Fayetteville store. And viewer Stacey Fox shared pictures of the Pepsi sign on the American Cancer Society Building. Meanwhile, the famed Corey Tower is also giving Pepsi a boost - right off the Downtown Connector.

It shouldn't be too much of a surprise, though, since Pepsi is the lead sponsor of the halftime show this year - which is coming up in mere days at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Time will tell if the signs stick around when the game is over - or if the idea goes flat.
