COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police now have one very important answer in their investigation after a man was hit and killed along one of Cobb County's busiest roadways.

After initially being without the victim's name, investigators have since identified the victim of a late Saturday hit-and-run as 46-year-old Nicholas Tomayo Perez of Marietta.

Perez was hit crossing South Cobb Drive around 9:30 p.m. near the Pat Mell Road intersection when police said he collided with a trailer on the back of a truck - possibly an early 2000s Chevrolet two-door pickup.

The truck and trailer, both believed to be white, left the scene. Perez was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Cobb County investigators are now focusing their investigation efforts on the remaining question of who killed him. Aside from the vehicle description provided by witnesses, police haven't released any further information about the suspected driver.

Anyone who has information is asked to call Cobb County Police investigators at 770-499-3987.
