Supporters of presidential candidates stump in Atlanta ahead of debate night

Several political events were held Tuesday night.

ATLANTA — Bernie Sanders, President Donald Trump and Joe Biden have something in common - all had fundraisers in their honor the night before the Democratic Debate in Atlanta.

None of them were at the events, but they had plenty of support.

For Sanders, it was rapper and activist Killer Mike.

"We're going to bring home Medicare for all," he said during an event at the Suite Lounge on Luckie Street. "We're going to bring home a free education that frees you from debt to progress this country. we are on the path to winning."

Killer Mike has previously said the hip-hop community strongly supports Sanders, because kids in hip-hop come from poor and working class environments.

And for the former Vice President Joe Biden, it was Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. The Atlanta leader is vocal about her support for Biden.

"I think that people want stability, and I think they want a voice of reason and a voice of wisdom, and I think that aligns with who Joe Biden is," she said in an interview with 11Alive

With 50 weeks until the votes are counted in the general election, red-state Georgia is very much in play according to an exclusive 11Alive poll administered by SurveyUSA. The numbers show that Sanders and Biden are the only two Democratic candidates to outpoll Trump, who carried Georgia in 2016.
