Statham man, dog both killed after being hit by car

A Statham man has loss his life after tragically being hit by a car Monday morning while walking his dog.

A man and his dog died after tragically being hit by a car Monday morning in Barrow County. 

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fatal wreck that  happened at 52 Jefferson Road in Statham.

Investigators identified the victim as 66-year-old Marvin Barnes, of Statham, Ga. Investigators revealed the victim was walking his dog when the suspect vehicle lost control, left the roadway striking Barnes. The investigation revealed Barnes was six to eight feet off of the roadway when the car hit him.

The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying the vehicle and driver of a gray or silver Infinity last seen fleeing Jefferson Road and turning onto Arnold Road. The car has heavy front and rear end damage.
