The Decatur Police Department and the Georgia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention are coming together to present "Talk Saves Lives" on Monday, March 12.

It will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Decatur Police Department at 420 West Trinity Place.

Decatur Police have recognized how important it is to engage the community after receiving 342 calls for suicide threats or attempts in the past five years

Described as a brief introduction to suicide prevention, Monday's presentation will be led by Chris Owens, Georgia Area Director of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

It will cover the warning signs of suicide, research on prevention and what people can do to fight suicide.

The presentation is free and intended for those 18 and over. Registration is encouraged.
