Question: Can you use your coffee maker during a boil water advisory?

Answer: Most coffee makes cannot maintain high temperatures for a long enough time to make the water safe to drink. Coffee can be made by using water that has already been boiled for one minute before adding to the coffee maker. Or, make coffee using bottled water, health officials said.

If you’re using an automatic shut-off kettle, make sure the water has boiled for one minute before you use it.

Laundry can be done as usual, but dishwashers need to be used on “hot” setting

Flush toilets as normal

Don’t swallow any water while bathing or showering

Don’t brush your teeth with tap water
