Naked man with record runs through home, tries on elderly woman's clothes

When they arrived, police said it was clear that the man was under the influence of some substance.

A Florida woman was in for a shock when a naked man ran through her house, Tuesday morning. He even stopped to try on some of the 82-year-old woman's clothes.

According to NBC affiliate WESH-TV, Sylvia Garmon said he came through her garage door and she knew something was odd when she saw a car coming down her driveway.

"I was sitting there by the office," Garmon said.

Garmon said that when she went to see who was there, she was confronted by a man in her house - naked as a plucked bird - who was later identified by police as 40-year-old Joseph Vaglica. So, naturally, she called 911.

"About that time, he came through here running and I said, 'Who are you?'," she said.

Garmon said she didn't stick around for the answer and instead took off to find her stepson who lives next door. Police said Vaglica streaked in and out of the house and even tried on some of Garmon's clothes.

"I think he probably knew he was naked and just wanted some clothes," she said. "He just went into the wrong closet."

Garmon said the man started banging on windows and rolling in the grass.

"He was running around the yard with his arms up," she said.

And although the scene sounds like something out of a movie, police said it was no joke.

"We could tell by his condition and his unresponsiveness, he appeared to be under the influence of something," Smyrna Beach Police Sergeant Chris Kirk said.

And a quick check of the jail records shows the man has a history of six arrests in Volusia County alone. Charges range from driving under the influence and disorderly conduct to domestic violence and battery.

WESH reports that Vaglica was taken to a hospital and then eventually the Volusia County jail where, according to online records, he now faces charges of burglary with assault or battery.
