ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves and MLB released a tentative schedule for 2017, revealing the date of the first regular season game to be played at SunTrust Park.
The Braves first regular season game at its new stadium is scheduled for April 14 against the San Diego Padres.
While the first regular season game will be a Friday at 7:35 p.m., 11Alive first reported that the first game at the new stadium in Cobb County will be an exhibition game against the New York Yankees on March 31. The game will be the team's final spring training game.
Atlanta will begin its season on the road against the New York Mets on April 3. The Braves will play three road series (New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins) before the first home series against the Padres (April 14-17) at SunTrust Park. The first homestand will continue against the Washington Nationals (April 18-20).
SunTrust Park will host 81 home games for the Braves in 2017, 42 games before the All-Star break and 39 after.
The Braves will play eight series, or 20 games, against American league teams at home. American League teams at home include Toronto Blue Jays (May 17-18), Houston Astros (July 4-5), Seattle Mariners (August 21-23) and Texas Rangers (September 4-6).
Atlanta will play four road interleague series, including two-game series at Houston (May 9-10) and Toronto (May 15-16). They will also play the Los Angeles Angels (May 29-31) and Oakland Athletics (June 30-July 2) on the road.
