Ouch! Former UGA coach Mark Richt suffers 32-point loss in Pinstripe Bowl

Since Miami rose to No. 2 nationally last November, the Hurricanes are a dismal 7-9 in the aftermath.

The honeymoon might be over for Mark Richt and the University of Miami.

On Thursday night, the former UGA head coach incurred a 35-3 drubbing to Wisconsin in the Pinstripe Bowl–the second-worst loss of Richt's three-year tenure with the Hurricanes.

(The worst defeat: Losing 38-3 to Clemson in last year's ACC title game.)

Digging deeper, since Miami ascended to the No. 2 overall ranking last November, the 'Canes have suffered through a 7-9 record over 16 games.

Putting that figure into perspective: From 1985-92, spanning eight seasons and two national championships, Miami encountered a grand total of eight defeats.

How bad was Thursday's debacle at Yankee Stadium?

**Miami turned the ball over five times versus Wisconsin, including four interceptions.

**The Hurricanes amassed all of six first downs ... and just 169 total yards. By contrast, the Badgers enjoyed robust tallies with first downs (20), rushing yards (333) and total yards (406).

**Sophomore tailback Jonathan Taylor rushed for 205 yards (on 27 carries), marking his fifth game of 200-plus yards this season.

**Miami had no genuine interest in avenging last January's Orange Bowl defeat to Wisconsin.

Along those lines, the Badgers had no qualms with punching in a final touchdown during the final minute ... even though the result had become academic midway through the first half.

**For last week's Early Signing Period, Rivals.com graded out Miami as having the 42nd-best recruiting class for 2019.
