Hawks get first preseason win in the big apple

Trae Young had a productive night in New York City.

NEW YORK — The Atlanta Hawks grabbed its first win of the preseason  Wednesday night against the New York Knicks  at Madison Square Garden.

Trae Young walked off the court with 23 points, which help lead Atlanta to a 100-96 victory. 

The Hawks' young players were productive in the team's win. De'Andre Hunter had 15 points, John Collins had 12 points and Cam Reddish scored nine points. 

And 21-year veteran Vince Carter left the game with 17 points ( 5-10 from three-point range) and Jabari Parker had 12 points. 

One key entering the game for the Hawks was to limit their turnovers. The team only had two at halftime and finished with 11 turnovers in the game.

The Hawks also forced the Knicks to commit 14 turnovers and scored 18 points off their mistakes. 

Atlanta plays their final preseason game Thursday against the Chicago Bulls. The game tips off at 8:00 p.m.
