NFL Draft: Atlanta Falcons trade back into Round 1 to land mammoth offensive tackle

The Falcons no longer have access to a Day 2 pick, now that they've traded their choices for Round 2 (45th overall) and Round 3 (79th) to the Rams.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons traded back into Round 1 on Thursday night, clearing a path to acquire University of Washington offensive tackle Kaleb McGary.

However, the move came with a steep price.

With this swap, the Falcons no longer have access to a Day 2 draft pick, now that they've traded their choices for Round 2 (45th overall) and Round 3 (79th) to the Los Angeles Rams.

Here's the book on McGary:

**He checks in at a mammoth 6-foot-7 and 317 pounds.

**McGary actually has shorter arms (32 7/8 inches) than Chris Lindstrom, the Falcons' initial first-round pick, who's likely to play offensive guard at the pro level.

**According to NFL.com, McGary was diagnosed with a heart arrthymia in his formative years, and his father has multiple sclerosis. The family was apparently forced off the family farm when Kaleb was in high school.

In 2018, the family was living in RVs while restoring his mother's childhood home, but a fire partially burned down the home and one of the RVs.

So, Friday should be an interesting day:

**Do the Falcons sit tight for two full rounds, the NFL equivalent of twiddling their thumbs for five hours?

**Or does the club utilize the 4th and 5th-round picks (117 and 152, respectively) to move back into Round 3?
