Report: Browns to interview Monti Ossenfort for general manager job

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Browns will interview Patriots director of college scouting Monti Ossenfort for their general manager job.

CLEVELAND — After hiring Kevin Stefanski as their head coach earlier this week, the Cleveland Browns have turned their attention to their search for a new general manager.

And according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, a new name has been added to the mix, with the Browns expected to interview New England Patriots college scouting director Monto Ossenfort for the vacancy on Friday.

This isn't the first time Ossenfort has been linked to a general manager opening as his name also came up for the Houston Texans' GM job in 2018. The Patriots, however, were able to block the interview, as they were still alive in the NFL Playoffs at the time.

Having been eliminated by the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Wild Card round earlier this month, that won't be the case this time around.

Ossenfort has spent the past 15 seasons working in New England's front office, with the franchise having won four Super Bowls in that span. Since 2014, he has served as the team's director of college scouting, with the team having appeared in three Super Bowls, winning two, in that time.

In addition to Ossenfort, the Browns have also been linked to Philadelphia Eagles vice president of football operations Andrew Berry and Minnesota Vikings assistant general manager George Paton in their general manager search. Cleveland's general manager job came open when the team parted ways with John Dorsey following its disappointing 6-10 season in 2019.
