Southwest Atlanta restaurant lands opportunity to serve thousands during Super Bowl Week

D’s Café and Catering will serve 3,000 pieces of fried chicken during Super Bowl Week.

ATLANTA — On Ralph Abernathy Boulevard in Southwest Atlanta, sits D’s Café and Catering.

“It’s home cooking.  It’s fresh,” said Devotis Lee.

Lee, better known as Mrs. D, owns the restaurant.

“We make our salmon.  We still pat our hamburgers.  We do all that old stuff.  We cut our own potatoes,” she explained.

D’s Cafe will soon get the opportunity to showcase some of its good food during Super Bowl week.

“We are small, but we are so happy.  Not because we got the contract to go and serve 3,000 pieces of fried chicken, but happy because we get the bragging rights on it,” mentioned Lee.

“We are right here in Atlanta.  We are home base Atlanta people.  We are people that lived in Atlanta from the beginning to the end.  So, we see the growth,” she said.

Lee says they were chosen to cater different events after a lengthy process.  A process that they have been going through for about a year.

“For the tasting, we walked in with three plates.  We did chicken on the stick with one of our homemade biscuits, that is homemade.  We really, we sold them on that,” Lee said, smiling.

While she says there’s some pressure, Lee says she’s just soaking it all in.

“For us, we look at it as absolutely fantastic,” said Lee.

D’s Café and Catering hopes this is just the start of them catering big events like this in the city.
