City of Stockbridge welcomes home Olympic bobsledder, Chris Kinney!

City officials celebrated Kinney with an official proclamation inside City Hall and a public reception.

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — City officials gave a hero's welcome to Olympian Chris Kinney as he returned home for the first time since the Winter Olympic games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

On Monday, City officials celebrated Kinney with an official proclamation inside City Hall and a public reception.

The Olympic bobsledder recently competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics as part of Team USA's four-man bobsled team. (Click here to see how the team did.)

The hometown hero, who gew up in Stockbridge and went to school there, will also visit Stockbridge Elementary on Tuesday to talk to young students on the importance of education, then will head to his own alma mater, Stockbridge High School.

"Chris is excited to have the support of the Stockbridge community," Kinney's mother Sandra said. "It's been amazing to see just how many community members have cheered him on throughout this journey. We are grateful."
