RIO DE JANEIRO -- American Jenny Arthur finished sixth in the women's 75kg weightlifting competition lifting a total of 242 kg, or about 535 pounds, at the Riocentro - Pavilion 2.

Arthur set a new American record in women's 75kg competition with her 107kg snatch. She broke Doreen Fullhart's record of 106kg set at the 2006 national championship. Arthur already is the record holder in clean & jerk.

In her third attempt at the clean & jerk, she was able to lift 141 kg up to her chest, but could not lift it over her head.

Arthur, a Chestatee High School graduate, made her Olympic debut Friday at age 22. Her best attempt was her second lift in clean & jerk when she lifted 135 kg, which is just under 300 pounds.

North Korea's Rim Jong-sim won the Gold medal easily lifting a total of 274 kg.
