Analysis suggests many more metro Atlanta properties at flood risk than thought

Overall, the agency that compiled the report says there are more than 190,000 properties in Georgia that might be at flood risk.

ATLANTA — A recent analysis suggests many more metro Atlanta properties may face a flood risk than publicly listed in federal reports.

According to the report by QuoteWizard, statewide there may be more than twice as many properties at flood risk in Georgia as listed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The agency used data provided by the First Street Foundation.

They say the discrepancy is even more pronounced around Atlanta, with more than four times as many properties in Fulton and Gwinnett counties under flood risk than are listed by FEMA.

In Cherokee County, QuoteWizard says there are seven times as many properties at risk as indicated on federal maps.
