DeKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Motorists are reporting major slowdowns on southbound I-285 after an accident near the I-20 exit in DeKalb County.
The accident happened in the late evening hours of Friday and according to the Georgia Department of Transportation, it is not expected clear before 1 a.m.
Unfortunately, as motorists have informed 11Alive, some attempting to bypass the accident by going the wrong way off of the interstate are making matters worse.
As of 12 a.m., the accident had traffic backed all the way up to Memorial Drive.
Drivers heading south on I-285 in DeKalb should avoid the area until traffic clears.
