Child hospitalized after being struck by vehicle in Atlanta

Authorities believe an 11-year-old boy was at-fault in the crash.

ATLANTA — An 11-year-old boy is recovering after police say he was struck by a vehicle on Saturday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department, officers were called to the 1800 block of Sylvan Road SW in reference to a pedestrian struck. The officers arrived to find the child, who had a cut to the head as a result of being hit.

Police said the driver remained on the scene and added that further investigation suggested the boy was at-fault in the accident. He was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Hughes Spalding Hospital for treatment. Police said his injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.

Neither the child nor the driver has been publicly identified by police.
