ATLANTA — A crash on I-20 west near just past Six Flags on Saturday was causing backup west of Atlanta.

It happened just past Thornton Road, with two of three westbound lanes initially blocked, according to an alert from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

"Motorists are urged to use an alternate route to avoid delays," the alert stated.

GDOT's estimate for the situation to be clear was 12:30 p.m.

Backup stretched as far back as Factory Shoals Road, traffic cameras showed.

The best way around it would be to either get off at Thornton Road, go to Hwy. 78 and then to South Burnt Hickory Road to get back to I-20, or take Riverside Parkway west to Hwy. 92/Fairburn Rd. and then back to I-20.
